Uncapped ace closing in on sealing Supercars debut

VERSATILE talent Aaron Cameron appears to be firming for a Repco Supercars Championship debut.

The Victorian is at Winton Motor Raceway today with the Blanchard Racing Team and is expected to turn laps aboard the #3 CoolDrive Mustang.

It’s not dissimilar to last year when Cameron popped up at a BRT test, but this time it may just lead to more – i.e. an enduro seat.

The Box Hill squad has not made any such official announcement, but has indicated to V8 Sleuth that Cameron is being assessed after his fine start to the 2024 Super2 season with Kelly Racing.

BRT was quick to pounce on Jack Perkins to reunite with recruit James Courtney for the 2024 Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000, but was in less of a hurry to fill the #3 co-drive as team co-principal and incumbent Tim Blanchard all but ruled himself out of contention.

Three-time Super2 runner-up Zak Best at one stage looked a frontrunner to co-drive with Aaron Love, but the favourite is now Cameron whose resume is becoming more and more impressive.

The 24-year-old is one of three drivers in history to have won both the Gold Star and Tasman Cup, achieved in his case through S5000 successes.

He is also a winner of multiple TCR Australia races and is running second in the 2024 Super2 standings.

BRT is coming off its best showing of the year in Perth, headlined by a sixth-place finish for Courtney.
