V8 SLEUTH BACKS DJR AT SANDOWN

THIS weekend’s Wilson Security Sandown 500 is the opener of the Pirtek Enduro Cup and the V8 Sleuth will be on-board a car in the V8 Supercars Championship this weekend for the first time!

V8 Sleuth has partnered with Dick Johnson Racing for the weekend with the V8 Sleuth logo and website address to be on the rear quarter panel of the #12 Chaz Mostert/Dale Wood Wilson Security/Dick Johnson Racing Falcon.

DJR have been long-time supporters of the V8 Sleuth website and overall project documenting an important part of Australian touring car racing history – in particular the histories of the 330-plus cars to have competed in the V8 Supercar era.

The two organisations have also worked together recently on the sale of the 2010 V8 Supercars Championship-winning #18 Jim Beam/DJR FG Falcon.

“The very first motor racing event I went to as a kid from Ballarat was the 1986 Castrol 500 at Sandown and, despite being a mad Peter Brock fan, the first driver I met and the first autograph I got from a driver was Dick Johnson,” says V8 Sleuth founder Aaron Noonan.

“To think that 27 years later my little business is on one of his team cars for the Sandown race itself is quite amazing!

“The site and the brand is still in its infancy but was born out of passion for the sport and my interest in an element of the sport that I felt needed to be documented, being the histories of the cars.

“The response I’ve had from the fans and the industry itself has been amazing.

“The passion for the cars among the fan base is strong and there’s a wide cross section of people who’ve contacted me over the last 18 months with story ideas, leads on cars, encouragement or access to information or people.

“That’s growing all the time to enrapture a range of other elements and interesting lines of content, so it’s onwards and upwards – and partnering with DJR at Sandown is the next part of the process.”

So keep your eyes peeled for the Sleuth logo whizzing past you at Sandown or on the live Seven Sport coverage on Saturday September 14 and Sunday September 15!
