Van Gisbergen’s NASCAR team joins MotoGP

SHANE van Gisbergen’s new team is spreading its wings with a move into MotoGP in 2024.

Having quickly become a force in NASCAR, Trackhouse Racing is now expanding to the two-wheel scene, taking over from RNF Racing as Aprilia’s satellite squad.

“This is a monumental moment for Trackhouse Entertainment Group,” said team owner Justin Marks.

“It has been in the ethos of Trackhouse since the very first day to put in the work, have the vision, and deploy the enthusiasm and passion necessary to build one of the most valuable motorsports entertainment companies in the world.

“Our entry into the MotoGP World Championship is another step in the execution of that vision.

“We feel that MotoGP is perfectly positioned for massive growth in the coming years not only in the United States, but internationally.

“It has all the ingredients necessary to continue its rise to global prominence: a thrilling on-track product, aspirational stars, unmatched fan and partner experience, and an environment that’s fan-friendly and welcoming.”

Van Gisbergen, of course, is not about to transition into MotoGP despite Trackhouse’s move.

The three-time Supercars champion will relocate from Australia to the US this month to begin his full-time NASCAR career, which remarkably already includes one Cup Series race win.

The 34-year-old Kiwi is set to compete in multiple divisions of NASCAR’s ladder in 2024 as he integrates himself into the American stock car way of racing.

Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez will be Trackhouse’s inaugural MotoGP riders. The team’s Cup Series regulars next year will once again be Ross Chastain and Daniel Suarez.
