Vermeulen to ride MotoGP bike in Adelaide

AUSTRALIAN two-wheel star Chris Vermeulen will ride a MotoGP bike through the streets of Adelaide, in the latest big announcement for the city’s 2024 Motorsport Festival.

Winner of the 2007 French Grand Prix at Le Mans for Suzuki, Vermeulen’s return to MotoGP equipment will come aboard a 2013-spec Aprilia.

Specifically, it is the Team Aspar ART GP13 ridden that season by Aleix Espargaro to 11th in the championship.

After short stints with Yamaha and Suzuki, Espargaro has long been back in the Aprilia fold and has established himself as one of the best in the business.

The four-stroke ART GP13 produces 230 horsepower and a top speed exceeding 330km/h.

That adds to a motorbike presence at the 2024 Adelaide Motorsport Festival which is already confirmed to feature Kevin Magee aboard a 1992 Yamaha YZR 500cc two-stroke grand prix machine.

Further grand prix bikes and Superbikes are set to be announced in the coming months for the March 16-17 event.

There’ll also be plenty of classic four-wheel cars, including from Formula 1 and Supercars.
