VIDEO: NASCAR powerhouse teases Waters deal

CAM Waters could be in line for a NASCAR Cup Series debut, judging by a teaser released overnight by Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing.

Waters appears to feature in the short video which culminates in co-owner/driver Brad Keselowski saying to the approaching driver, “hey partner, welcome to RFK”, followed by the presence of Stage 60 branding.

Stage 60 has been described by some as RFK’s answer to Trackhouse Racing’s Project 91, a part-time entry which brought Shane van Gisbergen to NASCAR – not to mention facilitating cameos from other high-profile internationals.

Stage 60 also shared the RFK video with a pointer to “Tomorrow, 10am ET” (midnight tonight AEST).

A two-time runner-up in both the Bathurst 1000 and Supercars Championship, Waters has begun forging a path in the United States via recent NASCAR Truck Series starts at Martinsville and Kansas.

Those came with Ford squad ThorSport Racing.

RFK is another Blue Oval-aligned organisation, fielding full-timers Keselowski (who won last weekend at Darlington) and Chris Buescher.

Waters could become the fourth Supercars driver to make his NASCAR Cup Series debut in the space of a year.

SVG won on debut at Chicago last July, and has since transitioned full-time into the Xfinity Series.

Brodie Kostecki drove for Richard Childress Racing at Indianapolis last August in the #33 Camaro which Will Brown is tipped to steer at Sonoma Raceway next month.

Intriguingly, van Gisbergen mentioned last weekend that there would be two Supercars drivers at Sonoma…
