VISION has emerged of the moment Will Brown crashed into Pukekohe’s pit lane entry wall during the second race of the ITM Auckland SuperSprint weekend.

The Erebus Motorsport driver tangled with Mark Winterbottom on the opening lap of the race, contact between the pair through the sweeper resulting in Brown spearing off into the Turn 10 barriers at high speed.

The only vision of the incident shown in the television broadcast was from the judicial camera inside the #9 Holden, which recorded an on-board view of Brown’s crash.

However, an external view of the crash was captured by a fan on the hill on the outside of the final corner.

Brown was initially winded but otherwise escaped unhurt from the impact of 56g against the tyre barrier-lined concrete wall.

The damaged chassis will return to the team’s Dandenong headquarters early this week, where it will be determined if it can be repaired in time for the Repco Bathurst 1000 on October 6-9.

The incident and its aftermath was one of the major talking points in this week’s episode of the Castrol Motorsport News Podcast.
