INGALL IMPRESSES AS WATERS TOPS BATHURST PRACTICE 3

CAM Waters once again took the top spot in Friday morning’s Supercars Practice 3 at the Repco Bathurst 1000.

After topping Practice 1 on Thursday, the Tickford Racing driver set the fastest lap of the weekend as a handful of drivers dipped into the ‘fours’, Waters dropping in a 2m04.7385s lap right at the end of the sesson.

A pair of Holdens followed the Ford, with Shane van Gisbergen and Chaz Mostert the only other drivers to post ‘fours’ but both quarter of a second off Waters’ pace.

Jamie Whincup and Anton De Pasquale filled out the top five, while James Courtney, Brodie Kostecki, Jack Le Brocq, Will Davison and Tim Slade filled out the top 10.

The Triple Eight wildcard entry of Broc Feeney and Russell Ingall was next in 11th, courtesy of a late lap from Feeney.

However, Ingall’s performance aboard the car was the real talking point of its morning.

The veteran’s best on Thursday afternoon was a high 2m08s lap, and he remained in the ‘eights’ until halfway through Practice 3.

Ingall then leapt into the ‘sixes’ with a pair of laps that put him up to eighth place at the time, ending with a best of 2m06.2447s that represents one of his fastest ever laps in a Supercar around Mount Panorama.

Unlike Thursday’s two practice sessions, Friday’s opening 60-minute session for both main drivers and co-drivers ran uninterrupted with all 25 cars out on track.

The #96 Brad Jones Racing Holden of Macauley Jones and Chris Pither was on-track early after overnight repairs following Pither’s crash late in Practice 2.

The Supercars are next on track for Practice 4 at 1:30pm ahead of Qualifying at 16:35pm AEDT.
