Adelaide festival nabs all-time winning Supercar

ONE of the most noteworthy machines in Supercars history has been added to the 2024 Adelaide Motorsport Festival showcase.

The Triple Eight-built ZB Commodore which Shane van Gisbergen drove throughout seasons 2020-22 will feature in the Adelaide event’s PremiAir Hire Bathurst winners’ category.

Nicknamed ‘Chastitii’, chassis 888A-054 is the most successful car in championship history with 39 race wins from 92 starts.

That includes two championships and two Bathurst 1000 victories, being the last Holden to achieve each of those feats.

The Peter Xiberras-owned Commodore is also one of just three cars to have won the Great Race on two occasions.

One of the other cars in that club, the Holden Dealer Team VH Commodore SS which won the 1982 and 1983 editions of the Bathurst 1000, is also heading to Adelaide.

Joining them in the Bathurst winners’ club at the March 16-17 festival will be the Nissan Skyline GT-R R32s that conquered the Mountain in 1991 and 1992.

Yet more Bathurst-winning cars are promised to be announced in due course.
