RACING action will take place on Thursday for the first time in ATCC/Supercars Championship history at Albert Park next month.
Supercars’ four races at the 30 March-2 April Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix event will be split across all four days as part of a heavily revised schedule.
The rejig comes to accommodate the Formula 2 and Formula 3 championships, which join the bill alongside Formula 1, Supercars and Carrera Cup.
Thursday will be a busy day of Supercars track action, with a pair of 30-minute practice sessions, two 15-minute qualifying sessions and a race from 4:50pm.
That is followed by just one session on Friday – consisting of a race from a 2:50pm – as the F1, F2 and F3 categories all take to the track for the first time.
Saturday will feature two Supercars qualifying sessions and a race from 5:25pm.
Supercars action will conclude early on Sunday morning; the touring car class given a 10:20am slot for its finale ahead of Formula 2 and Formula 1.
Lap counts for the Supercars races have not been confirmed, with their track times ranging from 30 to 45 minutes.
While an ATCC/Supercars race has never previously been held on a Thursday, the championship is no stranger to weekday action.
A total of 31 races have been held either on Friday or Monday, which includes several previous Friday races at Albert Park.
The Australian Grand Prix event is Round 2 of the Repco Supercars Championship, which kicks off at Newcastle on March 10-12.
