Allan Moffat’s amazing car sale

Allan Moffat's Camel Filters Chevrolet Monza.

AUSSIE motorsport Hall of Famer Allan Moffat owned and raced some amazing cars during his legendary career and, as a recently discovered piece of video shows, he had quite the sale on his hands late in the 1970s.

The four-time Bathurst 1000 winner placed up for sale his pair of Falcon hardtops (the very cars that finished 1-2 at Bathurst in 1977) as well as his Ford Capri and Chevrolet Monza Sport Sedans.

Check out this period news story shot within Moffat’s famous Toorak Road workshop that also describes how his famous Coca-Cola Mustang was one car that wasn’t be offered for sale at the time.

A new book documenting the history of the mighty Mustang is set to be released soon and is available to pre-order here now from the V8 Sleuth Superstore.

The Monza featured in this video is now part of Zak Brown’s car collection, while the #1 Bathurst-winning Falcon lives at the National Motor Racing Museum and the #2 Colin Bond car is within the collection of David Bowden on the Sunshine Coast.
