Australia Post honours Supercars legends

FOUR Supercars greats have been honoured by Australia Post in the form of special stamps.

Craig Lowndes, Dick Johnson, Mark Skaife and Allan Moffat have all been announced as 2023 recipients of the Australia Post Australian Legends Award.

The recognition was first bestowed upon Sir Donald Bradman in 1997, the cricket icon becoming the first living Australian to feature on a stamp.

Stamps and collectables with each of Lowndes, Johnson, Skaife and Moffat will be launched tomorrow.

All four have also been presented with a 24-carat-gold replica of their respective stamps, which display a famous car associated with them.

“It is an enormous privilege to be recognised for my contribution on and off track,” said Lowndes.

“The Australia Post Australian Legends Award stamp series is a renowned collector’s item, so to be included in this prestigious group is very humbling.”

Johnson added: “To be recognised for doing something that has been a lifelong job, of which I’ve enjoyed every single moment, is a great honour.”

“To be identified by Australia Post in this way is very special.

“My hope is to encourage younger generations and demonstrate that no matter what your goal is, you can achieve it if you try hard.”

The Supercars season continues this weekend with the Bosch Power Tools Perth SuperSprint at Wanneroo Raceway.
