Australian Rally Championship signs new tyre supplier

THE Australian Rally Championship will go back to the future with a return to MRF Tyres as its control supplier.

Hoosier will see out the current season before MRF takes over for the next three years, 2024-26.

Having previously been the Australian series’ control rubber supplier from 2017-19, MRF will be supplying its ZG3 product as is used in Europe.

MRF uses the likes of World Rally Championship event-winning drivers Mikko Hirvonen, Mads Ostberg and Dani Sordo for its tyre development.

“This new control tyre has already proven to be a rally winner in some of the most competitive Championships around the world and has made great progress since it was last in the ARC,” said Motorsport Australia’s Adrian Coppin.

“The tyres provide great value for our competitors and will also hopefully allow many state competitors the opportunity to make the step up and cross-enter into the ARC in their state based national events in 2024.

“We also want to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to the entire Hoosier team who have been a brilliant supplier and partner during recent years.

“We look forward to working with them for the remainder of 2023 and will no doubt continue to work closely with them at other motorsport events.”

Lewis Bates leads the 2023 ARC standings after two rounds, sitting 18 points clear of Nathan Quinn.

Next up is Rally Queensland at Gympie on July 22-23.
