THERE will be an international element to the V8 SuperUtes field at Bathurst, with British driver Tom Oliphant making his category debut.
Oliphant has got the call-up to steer a JKD Racing Toyota Hilux, substituting for Dean Brooking.
JKD Racing confirmed to V8 Sleuth that Brooking “has not received the required medical clearance” to get back behind the wheel after being caught up in a multi-car crash at The Bend in August.
That’s paved the way for Oliphant to slot in, and he’ll bring his beloved #115 with him.
The 33-year-old is based Down Under these days and is a regular in TCR Australia.
He won a reverse top 10 grid race earlier this year at Winton; prior to that he is a two-time race winner in the British Touring Car Championship.
Oliphant is due to return to Mount Panorama next month for the TCR Australia season finale at the Bathurst International.
As for V8 SuperUtes, Adam Marjoram enters Round 5 this weekend with a 28-point series lead over Aaron Borg, with David Sieders and Ryal Harris not far behind.
