Boys to make Super2 comeback

JORDAN Boys and Image Racing will reunite for the final round of the Dunlop Super2 Series in Adelaide.

After debuting in late 2017 with Dragon Motor Racing, Boys contested four full Super2 seasons with Image, chalking up three race wins along the way.

The 25-year-old has not competed in the category since the 2021 finale at Mount Panorama, with his racing activities thereafter being a mix of S5000 and Supercars wildcards/co-drives.

Boys’ Super2 opportunity in Adelaide aboard a Shaw and Partners-backed ZB Commodore follows news that Jack Perkins will miss the event.

“It’s really cool to be returning to the Super2 grid, especially getting to do it with Image Racing and the Erebus Academy,” said Boys.

“I’m always working with Image Racing and Terry Wyhoon at Ryan Wyhoon’s karting events, we spend a lot of time together and we know how each other works.

“I also coach Jobe (Stewart) and Jay (Hanson) during race weekends which I’ve been doing for a while so it’ll be great to be out on track with them as I’ll be able to relate a bit more than usual.”

Having partnered Brad Jones Racing’s Macauley Jones in the recent Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000 – and with a test day to come at Winton on November 14 – Boys hopes such mileage will help him be straight on the pace.

“I haven’t raced in a Supercar at Adelaide in a few years but I’ve done some S5000 racing there since Super2 and I’ve always enjoyed the track and the event,” he said.

“We’ve got a test day coming up so it’ll really just be a bit of a systems check for me and for the car, just to make sure I’m dialled in and feeling confident heading into the event.

“I’d like to slot into the top five. That’s my plan and I’ll be focusing on some qualifying stuff at the test day to try and put myself in a good spot and stay out of trouble from there.”

Zak Best leads the standings, 30 points clear of Kai Allen.
