British Porsche gun joins Bathurst grid

THE Carrera Cup Australia field will be boosted at Bathurst by the presence of British Porsche star Harry King.

King has won Carrera Cup championships in Great Britain and Benelux (Belgium/Netherlands) and was a multiple race winner in Porsche Supercup this year.

The 22-year-old will race next week at Mount Panorama for EMA Motorsport alongside teammate Garnet Patterson.

“I am delighted to be welcomed to EMA Motorsport ahead of Bathurst,” said King.

“The prospect of racing in Australia really excites me, and to measure myself against the Carrera Cup Australia competition is something I am eager to experience.

“It is great to confirm the drive with EMA Motorsport after my successful weekend in Austria – but all quite surreal!

“I hadn’t anticipated to be racing on the other side of the world in my career yet, so to do it at Bathurst, in a Cup car, is a great way to do it.

“Aside from my own goals and motivations for the weekend in-car, I don’t know what to expect outside of the car, so I’m really going to embrace the experience.”

King is the second international cameo driver confirmed for the October 5-8 Carrera Cup round, with Kiwi veteran Chris van der Drift to fill in for series leader Callum Hedge at Earl Bamber Motorsport.
