Confirmed: Fans locked out of Supercars AGP paddock

SUPERCARS has confirmed access to its relocated paddock will be restricted at this month’s Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.

As first reported by V8 Sleuth, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation has positioned the Repco Supercars Championship paddock within what is essentially a closed-off area of the Albert Park precinct for the March 21-24 event.

Supercars had held talks with the AGPC to try to rectify the situation but has been unsuccessful.

The official Supercars website today reported: “The Supercars Paddock Area is not a General Admission Area in 2024, and will require specific passes to access during the event.

“Please check the Australian Grand Prix website or contact Supercars teams directly for details.”

V8 Sleuth understands teams will have an extremely limited supply of passes for their staff and guests, and that paddock passes will not be available to the general public.

The paddock will be located in the Turn 13/14 infield, following a move to bump Supercars from the alternate pitlane in favour of the FIA Formula 2 Championship.

Adding to the logistical hurdle for Supercars teams will be the continuation of transporters being parked outside the circuit, near Gate 10.

Supercars has confirmed that various drivers will at least take part in publicly accessible Q&A sessions on the Friday and Saturday of the event.

There will be four Supercars sprint races at Albert Park, each offering up to 80 championship points (75 for the win, five for fastest lap – provided that that driver finishes inside the top 15).

Will Brown leads Triple Eight teammate Broc Feeney by nine points following last month’s Bathurst season-opener.
