Courtney’s first Supercars winner hits the market

THE car in which James Courtney broke through for his maiden Supercars Championship race win is up for grabs.

After returning from the European open-wheeler scene, Courtney chalked up 14 second- or third-place Supercars finishes before finally taking the chequered flag first in the opening leg of the 2008 Queensland Raceway round.

That came in just his 10th race aboard chassis SBR BF06, which had debuted two months earlier at Wanneroo Raceway.

Other notable results that season for Courtney and the #4 Jeldwen-backed Stone Brothers Racing Falcon included third in the Bathurst 1000 (with David Besnard).

The car continued to be prepared by SBR in 2009, but for customer Jason Bright and his Britek Motorsport operation.

It was later raced in Super2 by Karl Reindler, and by Chris Smerdon in the Kumho V8 Touring Car Series.

The car is owned by Smerdon and lives at Matt Stone Racing’s Yatala headquarters.

It has been listed at $320,000 (plus GST) via the V8 Sleuth Showroom.
