DARWIN SUPERCARS ADDED TO NETWORK 10 TV SCHEDULE

THE BetEasy Darwin Triple Crown at Hidden Valley in the Northern Territory next month has become one of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship rounds that will be broadcast live by Network 10 on free to air television.

The network confirmed the news today via a release confirming its MotoGP coverage. The world motorcycle class kicks off next weekend.

It stated: ‘don’t miss the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship live from Darwin, from midday on Saturday Aug 8 and 11.30am on Sunday 9 August’.

Network 10 has been the free-to-air broadcaster of Supercars since 2015 with the rights to show six major events and highlights of the other rounds that are broadcast exclusively by FOX Sports.

Network 10’s six rounds in 2020 were due to be Adelaide, Townsville, Bathurst, Gold Coast, Sandown and Newcastle, however Darwin has been added to fill one of the slots given Gold Coast and Newcastle will not occur this year.

It’s expected that the network will show the Sydney Motorsport Park finale under lights in mid-December as a direct swap for the canned Newcastle 500.

The Darwin races of the Supercars Championship haven’t been shown live on free-to-air television since 2014, the last year of the Channel 7 broadcast deal.

Since then they have been shown on Network 10 via Saturday late night highlights and Sunday afternoon highlights.

Next weekend’s round of the Supercars Championship, the Truck Assist Sydney SuperSprint at Sydney Motorsport Park, remains a FOX Sports exclusive round with highlights on 10.
