Erebus to move to new number at Bathurst

EREBUS Motorsport is keeping Todd Hazelwood’s race number for the Thrifty Bathurst 500 a closely guarded secret, for now.

Erebus caused a stir this week at Winton by running #1 on the Gen3 Camaro in which Brodie Kostecki had been set to defend his 2023 Supercars title.

That, of course, is on the backburner amid an impasse between driver and team, with Todd Hazelwood drafted in to instead steer that car.

Erebus won’t be allowed to run #1 come Round 1, so will it revert to #99?

Think again.

“We have got a different number we’re going to use,” CEO Barry Ryan told V8 Sleuth.

Asked if he could elaborate, Ryan quipped: “Not yet. We’ll make it a bit of a surprise. We have got to have something up our sleeve.

“Everybody else seems to know everything about our team, so we’ll keep something up our sleeve!”

In the other Erebus Camaro, Jack Le Brocq will run #9, taking over the mantle from Will Brown who headed to Triple Eight in the off-season.
