Fogg bracing for Bathurst blitz in 300km/h Mustang

ANGUS Fogg’s black and gold 1970 Ford Mustang will have another tilt at Mount Panorama, with the Kiwi confirming he’ll enter the National Sports Sedans round there in October.

Fogg showed off the Blue Oval beast to Bathurst fans in 2019 as part of a Touring Car Masters trans-Tasman Challenge, and now will return as part of the Great Race’s 60th anniversary event at the Mountain.

The two-time Bathurst 1000 starter will also join the National Sports Sedans field at Sydney Motorsport Park (September 9-10) and the Gold Coast 500 (October 27-29), either side of Mount Panorama.

“I’m stoked to be heading over to race in Australia,” said Fogg.

“We didn’t leave ourselves much time to prepare and modify the car, but it got a well-deserved mechanical birthday, and a few ‘stick ons’ to make it faster!

“The goal is to go and have some fun at three of Aussie’s coolest motorsport events rather than any aspirations of winning.

“The National Sports Sedan Series features a vast array of cars and will be quite a different challenge from last time we were there.”

The prospect of going even faster than last time is tantalising for Fogg.

“Last time out we reached a top speed of over 300km/h down Conrod Straight,” he said.

“We have 800-odd horsepower so really looking forward to giving it another go, having some fun and enjoying the Aussie competition.”

The full track schedule for the 2023 Repco Bathurst 1000 was released to the public on Wednesday.
