Ford’s under-the-radar Aussie recruit

FORD Australia quietly added to its growing on-the-ground resources in the latter stages of season 2025, V8 Sleuth can reveal.

It came to light in June that the company was looking to bolster its stocks Down Under by promoting Brendan McGinniskin to Australian Motorsport Program Manager and advertising for a new hire to fill his existing role.

While it never subsequently trumpeted the news, Ford did get its man: Lucas Kirby.

An engineer, Kirby entered the Blue Oval fold having spent the best part of six years at Garry Rogers Motorsport, where his tasks included leading the organisation’s project to develop the next-generation Peugeot 308 TCR.

He dovetailed the GRM gig with time spent race engineering Mason Kelly in Super2.

Kirby’s appointment comes as Ford next year boasts the biggest manufacturer presence in Supercars (something it hasn’t done since 2007), and launches a new one-make Mustang Cup series, and develops a GT3 presence in Australia in addition to its GT4 army.
