GROVE Racing has revealed a New Zealand-themed livery for next weekend’s inaugural Supercars round at Taupō.

The Penrite-backed Ford Mustangs of locally-born racers Matt Payne and Richie Stanaway will adopt a silver look, shadowed with Kiwi insignia, for the championship’s return to New Zealand.

“To have a New Zealand livery is really exciting for the team as we head to what we feel is like our second home,” Grove Racing CEO Brenton Grove said.

“We can’t wait to celebrate the event with our Kiwi fans and show off how proud the team is to be in New Zealand.

“The cars look great, the drivers are ready. We can’t wait to hit the track over there and soak in the atmosphere.”

The livery reveal was also complemented by a hilarious launch video starring Payne and Stanaway.

The weekend will mark Payne’s debut in a Supercar on home soil.

“I’m incredibly excited to race on home turf in Taupō with our new livery,” he said.

“It’s very cool, and the silver print and design are simply awesome. The support from our New Zealand fans means the world to us, and we are keen to put on an unforgettable show for them.”

Stanaway has taken part in two Supercars rounds in New Zealand previously, but this is his first championship round start at home since winning last year’s Repco Bathurst 1000.

“We are ready to race hard on the track and make our Kiwi fans proud,” he said.

“I am determined to improve on my performance from the previous rounds and aim for those top spots as we return home.”
