German/Australian combination enters Bathurst 12 Hour

THE first entry is in for the 2023 Bathurst 12 Hour, with Germany’s Manthey Racing announcing a collaboration with Australian-based EMA Motorsport.

Together, Manthey EMA will field a Porsche 991.2 Generation GT3R in the Pro class.

The team, which will don its green and yellow ‘Grello’ livery, is yet to comment on its driver line-up for the February 3-5 event.

Manthey finished sixth in the 2018 edition with an all-European roster of Dirk Werner, Romain Dumas and Frederic Makowiecki.

EMA meanwhile has been branching out into the international sector, having debuted in the 24 Hours of Spa in July.

EMA also ran Porsche Carrera Cup Australia frontrunner David Russell this year.

“The season opener of the Intercontinental GT Challenge in Bathurst is a special highlight in the racing calendar, and we are looking forward to starting our motorsport year 2023 with this event together with EMA,” said Manthey managing director Nicolas Raeder.

“With its hilly sections, the Mount Panorama Circuit is reminiscent of the Nordschleife and places very high demands on both the vehicle and the drivers.

“This is exactly where we’re experienced from our stints in the Green Hell.

“And we clearly want to compete for victory in Australia.”
