TRIPLE Eight teammates Will Brown and Broc Feeney are poised to fight it out for the coveted Larry Perkins Trophy on Sunday at Albert Park.
Brown leads the round points standings – on which the Perkins Trophy is awarded – by just three ahead of Feeney after three races.
Third-placed Chaz Mostert is 62 points adrift of Brown with just 75 available for a win in each race under the four-race format.
Mostert is set to start from pole position with Feeney sixth and Brown ninth after a poor qualifying session for the Red Bull Camaros on Saturday morning.
Feeney has recorded two wins and a fourth so far this weekend, while Brown has chalked up a win and two seconds.
Winning the Perkins Trophy would be the first major Supercars prize of Brown’s career, but he’s wary that starting behind Feeney on Sunday could be a deciding factor.
“It’s a bit of a milestone I guess, I haven’t won that sort of thing yet, so it’d be awesome,” he said.
“But Broc is starting sixth, I’m starting ninth, and I believe whoever finishes in front of the other really is going to get it. I’ve got my work cut out for me.
“But it’s been a cool weekend for the team. We rolled out really strong at Bathurst and to continue that this weekend, I’m pretty happy.”
Nick Percat is fourth in the weekend standings and in mathematical contention for the Perkins Trophy at 74 points behind Brown.
