DICK Johnson Racing’s against the odds 2010 championship triumph came amid the backdrop of acrimony between the squad’s two owners, Dick Johnson and Charlie Schwerkolt.

Appearing on the latest edition of the V8 Sleuth Podcast, Schwerkolt opened up on his years at the legendary Ford squad, culminating in his exit in the wake of the team’s remarkable title victory.

Schwerkolt originally joined the team as a sponsor before becoming a co-owner of DJR in early 2008.

In the episode, the now-Team 18 boss talks about why the deal came together so quickly, the highs of winning races and contending for the championship, as well as touching on key moments that soured relations between he and Johnson throughout their three seasons as co-owners.
