FORD Supercars teams are all set to run its latest tweak at the Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight in the continued hunt for parity.
Ahead of this weekend’s round at Sydney Motorsport Park, Supercars has announced the approval of a throttle body change.
“Supercars can confirm that the Ford Homologation Team (Dick Johnson Racing) requested an Engine Specification Document (ESD) change to use an 80mm throttle body,” said a spokesperson.
“This has now been tested, verified, both on and off track, and is now approved for introduction for the Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight.”

Ford had previously run an 87mm throttle body, having selected that option as opposed the 80mm variety used from the get-go in the Gen3 Chevrolet Camaro.
The change is aimed at improving engine driveability and rear tyre life, degradation having proved excessive for the Mustangs in Townsville even after an aero tweak.
Throttle body testing has taken place since Townsville, via DJR at Queensland Raceway on July 12 and then Walkinshaw Andretti United/Tickford Racing at Winton on July 18.
Repco Supercars Championship action at SMP will begin this Saturday.
