Le Brocq entering exclusive ATCC/Supercars club

JACK Le Brocq is just days away from joining one of the most exclusive list of names in ATCC/Supercars Championship history.

To this point, there are only five drivers who have at least one championship race start with five different makes – and each are supremely accomplished.

Kevin Bartlett stands alone at the top of the list with six different marques: Chevrolet, Mitsubishi, Holden, Alfa Romeo, Ford and Morris.

On five are Ian Geoghegan, Bob Morris, Bob Holden and Jim Richards.

They are set to be joined this Saturday by Matt Stone Racing driver Jack Le Brocq.

Le Brocq made his main game debut at the 2015 Sandown 500 aboard an Erebus Motorsport Mercedes-AMG.

His subsequent co-driver campaigns came with Ford (Tickford Racing) and Nissan (Kelly Racing, plus solo MW Motorsport wildcards) before scoring his first full-time seat in a Tekno Autosports Holden ZB Commodore in 2018.

He has shuffled back and forth between Ford and Holden since, picking up a maiden race win along the way, but in 2023 will be at the wheel of a Chevrolet Camaro, vaulting him into the five-plus club.

“I suppose when you put it like that it’s pretty cool, for sure,” Le Brocq told V8 Sleuth.

“It’s actually been cool having Wes (McDougall, MSR engineer) back helping out as well, he was around in the old Erebus days when I drove the Merc for Betty (Klimenko) and Barry (Ryan).

“But yeah, it’s cool. I suppose I should ring Garry (Rogers) up and see if he wants to drag out a Volvo and have a steer in that!”

Le Brocq and his 24 Supercars peers will roll out for opening practice at the Thrifty Newcastle 500 on Friday before a 250km race on each of Saturday and Sunday.
