Le Brocq soaking up Kostecki observations

JACK Le Brocq lapped up the opportunity to see champion teammate Brodie Kostecki in full swing for the first time last weekend.

After sitting out the opening two rounds of the season, Kostecki made a surprise return for the Taupō Super400.

While the #1 Camaro’s results on paper might have underwhelmed, Le Brocq relished the chance to start learning from the esteemed Perth product.

JLB went on to place fifth and eighth in the two Taupō races, as he increasingly settles at Erebus Motorsport.

“We’re starting to get a bit more out of it. I think I still have a bit more work to do to maximise the car and get the most out of that driving style,” Le Brocq told V8 Sleuth of his own efforts.

“It has been really good and I think the better results are going to keep coming now.”

As for observing Kostecki’s ways, Le Brocq said: “It’s always good, going up against the best who is coming off a championship win and everything, he is the man that everyone wants to beat.

“I suppose the biggest thing has been being in the same room as him and listening to his feedback and how he goes about setting up the car and what he looks for in terms of making the car faster session on session.

“For me, it’s actually pretty cool to see how he goes about it all and I’m learning a lot from that. It’s pretty cool to see what he does there.

“Him and George (Commins, engineer) have got a pretty good relationship after many years of working together. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s to come for the rest of the year and see how much we can get out of it.”

Le Brocq hopes he can make it a two-way street.

“As much as I will probably learn from Brodie, hopefully I can give something back to him as well. Hopefully it can work both ways,” said the 31-year-old, who is a two-time main game race winner.

Erebus holds third in the teams’ championship heading into Round 4 next month at Wanneroo Raceway.
