MARC racer to make Bathurst 12 Hour return

KEITH Kassulke – who escaped a nasty crash at this year’s Bathurst 12 Hour in Friday practice that forced he and his MARC II V8 racer to miss the international enduro classic – has confirmed he’s coming back to compete in the 2024 Repco Bathurst 12 Hour.

Kassulke will make his eighth entry for the event next year in a bid to rebound from a disastrous run earlier this year.

His MARC II V8 racer had brake failure entering the Chase during Friday practice, causing a frightening crash that resulted in a significant impact, as captured by these exclusive photos taken by spectator David Jowett.

Kassulke was released from the upturned car with the assistance of a trackside spectator who leapt the fence to render assistance.

Kassulke will team with young gun Cameron McLeod and Hadrian Morrall for the race in the same car crashed last year, which has been repaired since its Bathurst accident.

“We are returning in my rebuilt Mustang for another crack and I know we’ll have the speed gods on our side this year!” Kassulke said.

“We’ve had two miserable 12-hour events and since I’ve been out of the car for 12 months, I am very keen to get back to Bathurst in February.

“Myself, Hadrian and Cameron are the designated pilots, and Ryan McLeod will team manage, with the usual group of suspects in the pit box taking car of the preparation.

“Amidst some tough competition in the Invitational class we are looking forward to getting to Bathurst in February.”

Kassulke has been a Bathurst 12 Hour regular and is also familiar to fans of Touring Car Masters.

The Papua New Guinea-based racer has his ex-Glenn Seton Falcon Hardtop Coupe on the market listed here in the V8 Sleuth Online Showroom.

The Repco Bathurst 12 Hour will be held between February 16-18, 2024, at the Mount Panorama Circuit, Bathurst.
