Paul Morris in mammoth GT4 crash

BATHURST 1000 winner Paul Morris has been involved in a nasty incident at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Racing in the Australian Production Cars/GT4 combined class at the inaugural Shannons Trophy Round, Morris and Grant Sherrin made contact just after the midway point of Race 3.

That spat Morris’ #140 Mercedes-AMG GT4 hard into the fence and out of the race. The 55-year-old appeared to emerge from the wreckage unscathed.

“He got a run on me coming out of I think it’s (Turn) 5,” Sherrin explained on the event’s livestream, having made his way back to the pitlane.

“He was up beside me and I just held my line on the outside and for some reason he’s turned right to go left and knocked me off the road.”

The race was ultimately declared early, with Shane Smollen and Justin Ruggier making it three-from-three.

Morris had finished Race 2 last night in third place, just behind son Nash in another Mercedes-AMG GT4.

Renee Gracie meanwhile placed third in the opening race aboard a G55 Ginetta.
