SUPERCARS management is set to meet with Erebus Motorsport CEO Barry Ryan following a reported exchange on the Sunday night of the Perth SuperSprint.
Experienced journalist and former Motorsport News Podcast host Andrew van Leeuwen this week publicly spoke of how Ryan invited him into Erebus’ in-garage post-round huddle at Wanneroo Raceway.
What unfolded from there, according to van Leeuwen, was an “incredibly awkward” interaction and an “attempt at public humiliation” in front of almost the entire Erebus team.
It now appears that Supercars will look into the matter and gauge what it believes to have taken place.
V8 Sleuth understands Supercars senior management has been in contact with representatives for Erebus since the reports emerged.
Meanwhile, Motorsport Australia confirmed it has reached out to the parties involved in Sunday’s post-race exchange.
“Motorsport Australia’s Member Protection Policy outlines the obligations for all participants to be provided with a safe and respectful environment at our events,” read a statement.
“Motorsport Australia has reached out to those parties involved in the recently publicised interaction in Western Australia and reminded those involved of their obligations and also the support we offer under the policy. We have received no request to take the matter further at this time.”
The matter follows a torrid four-month period for Ryan-led Erebus, who lost several sponsors as champion driver Brodie Kostecki sat out the opening two rounds and are now at the centre of sale rumours.
