FORMER Haas Formula 1 team boss Guenther Steiner enjoyed his taste of Gen3 Supercars power at the Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival.
The Italian-American, who recently split with the Haas team, is one of the star guests at the two-day festival in the Adelaide Parklands.
Steiner was taken for laps around the Victoria Park circuit loop on Saturday by James Courtney in the Blanchard Racing Team’s spare, Tickford Racing-built Ford Mustang.
“The experience of this is fantastic,” Steiner told host Charlie Barlow in front of a packed audience at the Grand Marquee.
“We all think we can drive these racing cars. (But) you see the skills of the driver, you see how good these cars are when you’re in it.
“There’s one section of the race track where it’s very fast and there’s a twist in it and there you actually feel… could I go that speed? No. I’m not going to do it!
“But it’s very nice and then I got smoked out when he did the donuts in the end.
“I know that I’m privileged to be able to do these things and I really appreciate them.”
