Supercars co-driver adds GT Asia drive to busy schedule

JAYLYN Robotham is already a busy boy in 2024 – and he’s just added more to his plate.

The Brad Jones Racing enduro co-driver has signed up to drive a partial campaign in Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia with Climax Racing.

Robotham will join Min Heng aboard the Chinese-based squad’s Mercedes-AMG at three rounds; at Sepang in Malaysia in April, Chang in Thailand in May, and at Fuji in Japan in June.

It follows the 21-year-old, who is basing himself in Thailand this year, completing a successful test with the squad at Sepang.

“It’s awesome to be able to lock in these races with Climax Racing in GT World Challenge Asia, they are a very professional team in a super competitive championship,” Robotham said.

“GT racing in Asia is a big deal – the fields are typically large with some different machinery to what we normally see in Australia.

“Also, the series attracts a lot of international interest with some big-name drivers from around the world involved, while guys like Triple Eight are typically front runners.

“You always want to be able to test yourself against the best, and I think in this field, the level of competition is right up there.

“It’s always great to get as much seat time as possible, especially with the longer GT formats in play.

“Hopefully, the different programs this year will put me in good stead by the time the Supercars enduros roll around, and I can be on the pace at Bathurst.”

The GT gig adds to his already-diverse schedule for 2024.

In addition to his Supercars co-driver role alongside Bryce Fullwood, Robotham is doing a full season in the Thailand Super Series with Corliss Race Engineering, driving a MARC Mustang in the GTM Championship and a Ford Ranger in the Super Pickup category.

He’s also the current leader in the Lanotec Victorian Hyundai Excel Championship after winning the opening two rounds at Sandown and Winton.

Last weekend, he claimed pole position in Class D at the Bathurst 6 Hour.
