Team 18 invites fans to view in-build Camaros

TEAM 18 will welcome the public into its headquarters for the first time later this month.

Erebus Motorsport hosted a similar type of event in August, at which it unveiled the livery for its Boost Mobile Bathurst wildcard for Richie Stanaway and Greg Murphy.

Notably, Team 18 will be offering fans a close-up look at its progress on the Gen3 Chevrolet Camaros it will race in the 2023 Repco Supercars Championship.

Drivers Mark Winterbottom and Scott Pye plus their current ZB Commodores will also be on-hand for the November 27 showcase.

On Pye’s #20 will be a fresh livery, with a new naming rights partner to be announced ahead of the following weekend’s Adelaide 500.

Another feature will be the James Courtney-driven championship-winning Dick Johnson Racing Falcon which is owned by Team 18 founder Charlie Schwerkolt.

Schwerkolt was a co-owner at DJR before an infamous falling out during the 2010 title campaign, after which he started Team 18 in 2013.

The team then became a standalone outfit three years later and is now in its third season running two cars.

“We are excited to open up the doors of Team 18 for the public to check out our Mount Waverley race headquarters for the very first time,” said Schwerkolt.

“This is a rare chance to give fans the chance to see behind the scenes of our race team and not something we’ve done for the public at our Mount Waverley base before.

“There’s so much going on at the moment. We’re getting ready for a big season finale in Adelaide and our Gen3 builds are underway, so there will be plenty to see and do on the day.

“We have a few race-worn panels from the workshop that we’ll be selling off, as well as a host of race gear that would look great in any motorsport fan’s man cave.

“It’s an exciting time as we get set for the season finale and get our Camaros ready to hit the track, so we’re looking forward to seeing our members and fans at our open day in a couple of weeks’ time.”
