Toyota Australia reveals 2024 motorsport plans

TOYOTA’s flagship one-make series will have a new car and name in 2024, as part of the company’s three-pronged Australian motorsport presence.

The Japanese giant has announced its TGRA 86 Series will be rebranded to TGRA GR Cup for 2024, when its latest model joins the series.

First revealed in 2022, the new cars are being prepared and sold through Neal Bates Motorsport for $89,990.

A five-round calendar supporting Supercars events is set to kick-off at the Townsville 500 on July 5-7.

Sydney Motorsport Park (July 19-21), Sandown (September 20-22), Bathurst (October 10-13) and the Gold Coast (October 25-27) complete the schedule.

The Gold Coast effectively replaces The Bend – a venue that Supercars will not visit in 2024.

Toyota’s second-tier TGRA Scholarship Series does include the South Australian circuit on its five-round schedule, which combines various events.

It will kick-off with a standalone TGRA meeting at SMP (April 14), before heading to the The Bend (May 24-26, South Australian Motorsport Series), Phillip Island (June 15-16, PI Super Sprint), Queensland Raceway (August 2-4, SpeedSeries) and Sandown (August 23-25, Victorian State Racing Series).

Toyota also confirmed the continuation of its Australian Rally Championship program, where Harry Bates and brother Lewis will again battle it out in a pair of GR Yaris AP4s.
