V8 SuperUtes makes major changes for 2025

THE Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series enters a new era in 2025 with a new franchise structure and leadership team.

The category enjoyed its strongest season yet last year while undergoing a 12-month process of restructuring the category.

A total of 16 team owners now collectively own the majority share in the company that oversees the management of the series.

Further, each entry is now underpinned by a shareholding licence – not unlike the Supercars Championship’s old Racing Entitlements Contract or current Teams Racing Charter, or the old V8 Utes series’ franchise system.

Monday’s category annual general meeting also saw it confirm a revised management team for 2025.

Series operations manager Filippa Guarna will take over as category manager and The Bend Motorsport Park’s head of operations Wayne Williams comes on board as its technical manager, taking over from series promoter Luke Sieders who moves to a board director role.

Mark Bevan, the former owner of Haltech and a large contributor in the early development of the category, was appointed as the second board director alongside Sieders.

Stephen White also returns in 2025 as the series Driver Standards Advisor, with Murray Slana the Motorsport Australia-appointed series technical delegate.

“I’m very proud of how far we’ve come as a series after myself, team owner Craig Thompson and other founding members of our paddock had a vision way back when on what we wanted V8 SuperUtes to become, and now we’re here,” Sieders said.

“I’m excited to hand over the category management reigns to Filippa after all she’s done to help me with the series the last few years, and Wayne stepping into the technical management role with his long involvement in team and circuit administration, to help steer the category into an exciting new growth phase in Australian motorsport.”

This year’s six-round Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series gets underway this weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park on the support card of the Thrifty Sydney 500.
