Van Gisbergen to get early Daytona debut

SHANE van Gisbergen has picked up an additional 2024 race which will kick off his first full American campaign next year.

Before tackling the full NASCAR Xfinity Series plus seven Cup races, Van Gisbergen is set to debut in the ARCA Menards Series.

The Kiwi is in line to contest the 2024 ARCA season-opener at Daytona International Speedway on February 17, in order to gain the necessary approval for the subsequent Xfinity race later that day at the same track.

“We’re in the process of getting (van Gisbergen) in the ARCA race for Daytona,” Trackhouse Racing president Ty Norris said on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, per the official ARCA website.

“There’s a (pre-race practice) in January and the Xfinity Series has a pretty lengthy practice, so there’s a lot of opportunities to be observed.

“That’ll lead to an approval for Daytona and once he’s approved at Daytona, we’ll be able to go to any track on the circuit.”

The team with which van Gisbergen will race in ARCA is yet to be publicised.

Centrally contracted to leading Cup squad Trackhouse, SVG is aligned with Kaulig Racing in the Xfinity Series.
