THE popular on-track entertainment segment once known as the VB Challenge will be revived at this weekend’s Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500.
The initiative regularly featured in the early 2000s, involving V8 Supercars drivers tackling an obstacle course of sorts aboard road cars.
Various details are still to be firmed up for what is now dubbed the Boost Mobile Challenge, but it’s understood drivers outside of the Supercars grid will be thrown into the action.
It will take place on the main straight, at 1pm AEDT on Saturday and 11:30am Sunday.
Involved will be two Boost-branded vehicles: a Holden Commodore ute and a modified Stadium Super Truck.
According to the official Supercars website, “drivers will motor through the course through the likes of reversals, 180-degree spins and 360-degree spins”.
