VIDEO: ’93 Bathurst-winner mystery solved

THE latest episode on the Perkins Engineering YouTube channel solves a long-running mystery surrounding the 1993 Bathurst 1000-winning car.

In the video, Jack Perkins gives an insight into the level of sleuthing involved in the restoration of PE 017, the Holden Commodore VP that Larry Perkins and Gregg Hansford drove to victory in the Great Race three decades ago.

With the car continuing to near completion, Perkins was finally able to solve a mystery around whether or not the car used a PI System data logger during the race.

Using period photos supplied by fans and photographers – including photos from the an1images.com archives – and chatting to crew members, Perkins was finally able to identify what configuration the car ran in on race day and what that means for the restoration.
