What happened to the Vita Brit TV commercial car?

OUR recent story on the recreation of the Peter Brock Commodore used in the 1980s Vita Brits TV commercial sure got a lot of people interested!

While the original Commodore no longer exists and Dick Johnson’s Falcon V8 used in the TV ad is the one and same 1984 Australian Touring Car Championship-winning car now part of the Bowden collection, there’s a third vehicle in the mix that prompted a big question in the V8 Sleuth office this week.

Just what happened to the mobile Vita Brit used in the TV ad?

Filmed at Sandown in 1984, the commercial featured a ‘Vita Brit Kid’ racing a mobile Vita Brit against the Aussie touring car legends.

Built on a VW chassis, the ‘mobile Vita Brit’ was driven in the action shots on-track by 1983 Bathurst 1000 winner and Brock HDT teammate John Harvey.

But what became of the Vita Brit after the filming of the TV commercial was completed?

Was it pulled apart?

Did it get squirrelled away somewhere?

We’d certainly love to know more about it.

If you were involved in its creation, the filming of the ad or know what happened to the mobile Vita Brit in the aftermath, get in touch with us here and tell us what you know!

There’s another angle to this whole story that has emerged in the wake of our original story too.

More on that one soon …
