THE man tipped to lead Matt Stone Racing’s first Repco Supercars Championship wildcard is testing with the Chevrolet team today at Queensland Raceway.
Crick’s status as the favourite for an MSR wildcard has strengthened with the 26-year-old in line to drive both the #4 entry of Cameron Hill and the #10 of Nick Percat.
Yet to make his main game debut, Crick has two full Super2 seasons under his belt and scored his maiden laps in a Camaro Supercar last November, again with MSR.
The Yatala team is in the process of assembling its third Gen3 chassis, which it expects to be race-ready in the coming months.
That car, MSR05, will eventually be allocated to either Hill or Percat, with theirs handed over to the wildcard program.
Matt Stone Racing is yet to announce 2024 co-drivers, as is fellow Queensland team PremiAir Racing; while Triple Eight (Scott Pye, #87 and Jamie Whincup, #88) and Dick Johnson Racing (Tony D’Alberto, #11 and Kai Allen, #17) have.
Craig Lowndes, who is also at QR, will spearhead Triple Eight’s wildcard; he is expected to be joined by Crick’s former Eggleston Motorsport Super2 teammate Cooper Murray.
The seven southern Supercars squads will test at Winton Motor Raceway later this week.
