500 drones to put on a show at Townsville 500

SUPERCARS has announced an addition to its Saturday night entertainment at the NTI Townsville 500 in the form of a drone light show.

More than 500 drones will light up the skies above Reid Park – following a Ministry of Sound-headlined concert – with motorsport-inspired 3D models.

ATN, the company behind the drone show, has previously featured at events such as the Australian Open.

“We are thrilled to introduce this incredible drone light show to this year’s NTI Townsville 500,” said Supercars CEO Shane Howard.

“It will be a grand finale to a huge Saturday, leaving our fans in awe and providing them with an unforgettable experience.

“The combination of the Ministry of Sound performance and the spectacular drone display will make it one of the most memorable days in the event’s history.

“We hope fans flock to Reid Park and enjoy a night under the big top and show under the stars with a world-class display from this drone performance.”

ATN’s Chris Greaves is promising a blend of music and technology with “a distinct Supercars flavour”.

“We are incredibly proud to partner with Supercars to put on this amazing show in such an iconic part of Australia,” said Greaves.

“With our fleet of state-of-the-art drones equipped with vibrant LED lights, our skilled team of designers and pilots look forward to orchestrating a meticulously synchronized performance of 500 drones, choreographed to an exhilarating musical score.

“The Townsville sky will transform into a canvas of enchanting patterns, stunning formations, and dynamic shapes themed around the sport we all love, creating a truly unforgettable experience for everyone.”

The Townsville 500 forms Round 6 of the 2023 Repco Supercars Championship and will be held across July 7-9.
