Australian Racing Group appoints broadcast guru

THE Australian Racing Group has doubled down on the mission to lift the profile of its motorsport portfolio, hiring a sports media specialist.

V8 Sleuth can reveal that ARG has recruited Greg Miles for that specific purpose.

Miles was the AFL Media’s long-time director of production and facilities before more recently spending several years as general manager of broadcast and facilities at Racing.com.

It’s not yet clear what Miles’ exact title is at ARG.

A revised television arrangement was announced during the week for the 2023 SpeedSeries, which involves ARG and Motorsport Australia categories, with the free-to-air component increasing to three hours per event.

That will come via the Nine Network, with complete coverage still belonging to Stan Sport.

ARG powerbrokers believe in their product but feel that raising its profile is necessary to take the next step.

There is also a desire to take its broadcast into international markets, given the global nature of TCR.

Under ARG’s watch are TCR Australia, S5000, Trans Am, Touring Car Masters, GT World Challenge Australia and the reborn V8 Touring Cars National Series, plus events including the Bathurst 6 Hour and Bathurst International.
