Expanded free-to-air TV coverage for SpeedSeries

EVERY SpeedSeries event in 2023 will receive three hours of live free-to-air television coverage.

The move has been announced ahead of the second year of a deal between the SpeedSeries and the Nine Network-owned Stan Sport subscription platform.

All SpeedSeries events were streamed live via Stan in 2022.

For the bulk of events, only post-produced highlights packages were tabbed for Nine’s free-to-air offering.

However, live Saturday broadcasts on Nine were introduced during the year in a bid to strike an improved balance.

That will continue in 2023, with the three-hour Nine slots all scheduled for Saturdays, leaving Sundays exclusively live on Stan.

An announcement championing the success of the 2022 season confirmed “significantly enhanced integration” between Nine and Stan for next year.

“Stan Sport in conjunction with the Nine Network will expand the free-to-air coverage to now include every broadcasted SpeedSeries event,” read the statement.

“The Nine Network free-to-air broadcast will be increased by over 30 percent with three hours of high definition SpeedSeries broadcast live on the Nine Network.

“There will also be expanded, and enhanced category highlights replayed on the Nine Network.

“All the live action for every event, including special insights and features will always be live, ad-free and exclusive on Stan Sport.”

According to the SpeedSeries, over 1.5 million people tuned into the free-to-air Nine broadcasts this year.

Liam Curkpatrick, COO of SpeedSeries organisers the Australian Racing Group, is looking forward to an even bigger 2023.

“This was the biggest year of racing that SpeedSeries has seen, from broadcasting to trackside spectators and entrant participation,” said Curkpatrick.

“The entertainment and content factor in what we have produced is exceptional and it’s a credit to all involved that we are able to achieve what we have this year.

“Confirmation of more broadcasting in an exciting announcement today, and there’s even more initiatives that puts the SpeedSeries in great shape for 2023.”

The 2023 SpeedSeries will be contested over eight rounds.
