Barry Ryan’s cheeky dig at Ford rivals

EREBUS Motorsport CEO Barry Ryan has hit back in the Supercars pre-season parity war, calling out Ford sandbagging.

The championship is this week conducting further parity testing amid persistent concerns from the Blue Oval.

Drivers David Reynolds and James Courtney indicated in the days after last week’s Sydney Motorsport Park test that a clear problem exists.

Chevrolet-aligned figures meanwhile have been not-so-subtle in their assessment of why the Ford fleet filled the lower half of the SMP timesheets – a narrative reignited by Ryan in a video released today.

“It’s hard to tell with Ford, they have got a few sandbags in the boot at the moment,” he said.

“It’s really difficult to tell exactly where we are but both test days have been really competitive.”

Ryan heaped praise on his crew for their quality of builds and for how his drivers and engineers have gone about their preparations.

“Both Will and Brodie are really excited about the cars, they like driving them, they’re totally different to the old car,” he continued.

“They are both good drivers so they have just adapted, within laps of going out the gate they adapted pretty quickly.

“The engineers have done a fantastic job to get the car set up in a window already where we think we know we can translate each round at each different track and try to make the car work out of the gate instead of trying to get to Sunday and still trying to tune the car.”
