BJR seals fifth straight Golden Rattle Gun

BRAD Jones Racing has extended its Pirtek Pit Stop Challenge supremacy, collecting a fifth straight title.

BJR had put the result beyond doubt by the end of the competition’s semi-finals today in the Mount Panorama pitlane, securing a double berth in the decider.

The Albury squad’s #8/14 and #96/4 crews defeated Grove Racing and Triple Eight respectively to set up an all-BJR final.

From there, it was the #8 Camaro which prevailed overall, as the entire BJR crew burst out in celebrations with another $20,000 prizemoney cheque headed their way.

“They’re an awesome group of people and every year we live for this, it’s great,” said team owner Brad Jones.

“As you can see, it means a lot to us and it’s great to take it home again.

“Sammy (Cosgrove, chief mechanic) looks after all this stuff now and honestly everyone takes a lot of pride in what we do.

“They practice regularly and they deliver when it counts, so whether it be a 2.9s pitstop under the pressure of a race or at the Pirtek Golden Rattle Gun competition, the guys deliver.

“It’s nice to know it’s going home five years in a row. It probably should stay there and get another trophy really.”

Practice 1 at the Repco Bathurst 1000 kicked off at 1:20pm AEDT.
