Bowe back in a Ford for Bathurst

FORD legend John Bowe will tackle the Mountain in Blue Oval machinery once more, although not in the same way he famously did for two decades.

Bowe raced a Ford in every edition of the Bathurst 1000 from 1988 to 2007, winning twice and claiming another four outright podiums in that span.

The fan favourite has however found himself aligned with Holden in recent seasons, driving a Torana in Touring Car Masters.

Bowe retired from full-time TCM competition at the end of last year but is continuing to compete, predominantly in the GT4 sphere.

He’ll also line up for the Bathurst 6 Hour on March 29-31, behind the wheel of a Ford Focus RS.

“I was super excited to visit the pocket rocket Focus RS that I will share with the Brown Davis boys at the Bathurst 6 Hour at Easter time,” Bowe announced on social media.

“In my opinion, it’s one of the best endurance events of the year.

“Around 70 cars taking part, and all shapes and sizes…

“The Brown Davis team go back a long, long way. Remember the original drop racing fuel tanks for Toranas? Brown Davis manufactured those and still make them to this day for restos!

“The Focus RS is incredibly sophisticated as many modern cars are, so turning it into a race car is not as simple as you would think.

“I will keep you updated about this journey.

“Bring on Easter I say. The 6 Hour has become the domain of BMW over the past few years but there are lots of battles through the field and it’s one of the most enjoyable races I’ve been in with real showroom showdown relevance.”
