Brown to miss Winton TCR round

WILL Brown will be a notable absentee from Round 3 of the TCR Australia Series at Winton Motor Raceway.

It’s been a torrid start to the season, in TCR at least, for Brown with his Melbourne Performance Centre Audi plagued by reliability woes.

He’ll make no further dent on the standings for now, with the Supercars star not returning from his United States trip in time for the June 9-11 Winton meeting.

Brown is part of an Erebus Motorsport delegation – also including Brodie Kostecki, Barry Ryan, George Commins and Nathan Cayzer – flying out today to attend this weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series race in St Louis as guests of Richard Childress Racing.

Brown will complete the rest of the TCR season, Winton aside.

“I am excited to head to America to expand my racing knowledge and gain insights into the teams and drivers, and how they prepare and run for race weekends,” said the 2019 TCR Australia title winner.

“It is disappointing to miss the Winton round of TCR, and I will be back for the remaining four rounds of the season to gain as many points as possible to boost my World TCR ranking.”

MPC managing director Troy Russell said his crew will work towards ensuring there’s no further gremlins for Brown’s car come Round 4 at Queensland Raceway in August.

“The car Will is driving, previously driven by Jay Hanson in 2022, gave us no issues throughout the year despite some running repairs needed,” said Russell.

“This year has not been the start myself or the team had hoped for but we are all working hard to get the car and Will back to the top of the field.”

Brown holds second in the Supercars standings, only behind Kostecki.
