BRT to expand after acquiring Tickford TRC

THE Blanchard Racing Team will expand to a two-car model for next year after acquiring an additional Teams Racing Charter.

The news follows shortly after Tickford Racing confirmed it will downsize from four cars to two for the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship.

Having gone out on its own at the start of 2021, BRT grew this year by establishing a Super2 program for Aaron Love alongside its sole main game entry.

The Box Hill outfit is also fielding a wildcard for Love and Jake Kostecki in the Sandown 500 and Repco Bathurst 1000.

Love is tipped to be promoted full-time by BRT next season, making for a mix of youth and experience, potentially alongside 2010 champion James Courtney.

“We are incredibly excited to be expanding BRT into a two-car team for the 2024 season,” said BRT co-principal Tim Blanchard.

“Expansion was always part of our five-year plan when we started the team, and after taking steps in that direction this year with the wildcard and Super2 programs, we feel the timing is ideal.

“Starting as a one-car team was right for us initially, but we are now in the position where we need two cars’ worth of data for development purposes, and to also expand the business to create greater depth in staffing and other resources.

“This in turn, will ensure BRT will become even more competitive and sustainable moving forwards.

“We will announce drivers, sponsors, and other key components of the expansion in the coming weeks, but we are well advanced in the preparation for 2024 while still focused on finishing this year strongly.”

BRT’s 2023 primary driver Todd Hazelwood is 20th in the standings with a best result of fourth place in Race 1 of the Perth SuperSprint.
