HomeNewsOfficial: Two-car Tickford Supercars team for 2024

Official: Two-car Tickford Supercars team for 2024

TICKFORD Racing will downsize its Repco Supercars Championship program to two cars next year as it strives to return to title contention.

The Ford squad has formally confirmed this morning it will move from four cars to two in 2024.

“Tickford Racing has committed to running a two-car team in the 2024 Supercars Championship,” team principal Tim Edwards said in a statement.

“The sole motivation behind the decision is to focus all the team’s energy and resources toward again becoming a championship-winning team in the 2024 season and beyond.

“The business has been working on a number of strategic plans on how best to position Tickford Racing into the future for greater success in all its racing programs.

“Further information on what the team will look like in 2024 will be released in due course.

“The entire Tickford Racing team remains focused on the 2023 championship, especially as we head into the enduros, and maximising our results at the last four events of the year.”

Although not yet confirmed, it’s widely expected that the sale of Tickford’s third and fourth Teams Racing Charters will result in 24-car grid.

One TRC will end up in the hands of the Blanchard Racing Team to facilitate its expansion to two cars, with the other charter being shelved.

Also unconfirmed but expected is that Cam Waters and Thomas Randle will stay at Tickford; James Courtney meanwhile is set to join BRT while Declan Fraser is scrambling to find a seat.

Tickford is the leading Ford squad in the 2023 Supercars teams’ championship, but it has not finished top two overall since 2015.

The Campbellfield organisation is likely to remain active outside of the main game next year, including in the Dunlop Series.
